Long past the days when shawls and wraps were associated with the backs of rocking chairs or flower children, the shawl has become an indispensable part of a modern woman’s wardrobe.

Shawls, wraps, pashminas, open-sided capes, ruanas are all perfect for everyday wear, no matter the season. Traveling to warmer climes? A light pashmina, much like a sarong, can protect you from the sun, add warmth from an ocean breeze and give an insouciant style to your warm weather favorites.
In the dead of winter heavier shawls and capes can be an alternative to a coat, or on top of one, adding a splash of color or pattern to an otherwise dreary day. Whether you have a favorite wrap or an assortment they are easy to wear and always appropriate.

I wouldn’t think of traveling without at least one wrap. The outside is one temperature, inside a car or airport is another temperature, and a plane is usually freezing. Instead of those thread-bare blankets that some airlines offer wouldn’t you rather cuddle up in your own wrap? As a blanket, pillow, or cocoon you’ll be so much happier and comfortable in your in your own wrapper.
So indulging in comfort on casual days, adding flair to business attire, or elegance to evening wear, shawls are here to stay. Thank goodness!
